Netball Australia is encouraging all members of the Netball Nation to contribute to the independent State of the Game review by completing the stakeholder engagement survey via the Netball Voice portal.
As the most ambitious review undertaken by the sport, the insights and recommendations will guide the reset of netball’s strategy, a review that has even greater significance given the impact of COVID-19.
To date the research has engaged over 60 key groups and this week over half a million people have received an invitation to participate in the survey.
Review Panel Chair Liz Ellis acknowledged that there is a large portion of the Netball Nation who are yet to engage with Netball Australia.
“Netball is fortunate to have such a strong delivery network of state Member Organisations, associations and clubs that make up the sport’s federated structure, however, there are also many organisations that sit outside of the traditional federated netball system, that also play an important role in delivering the sport. We want to hear from everyone.”
Netball Australia CEO Marne Fechner said it’s crucial that this review seeks contributions from a wide range of perspectives to ensure that, in future, netball is the sport of choice for communities, talented athletes, fans, broadcasters, sponsors and governments.
“This is the largest review the sport has undertaken, and it is important that we capture the diversity and richness of views from across the netball nation. As we reimagine what the sport could look like heading towards our 100th year, we want to ensure our decisions are informed by the people that care most about the game – participants and fans alike.”
More than 60 groups have been involved, including state member organisations, players, fans, government bodies and key groups such as UniSport and the Australian Mens and Mixed Netball Association (AMMNA) – all coming together with a common goal to drive the sport forward. Current AMMNA President Andrew Simons is pleased to be involved in the review.
"AMMNA are excited to be working closely in support of the State of the Game review as we plan for a post-pandemic era. This opportunity has enhanced AMMNA’s thorough review for the next phase of our own strategic planning and enables us to collaborate even further with the netball ecosystem. We look forward to helping secure the future of what we believe is the world’s greatest sport".
People wishing to provide input into the review can complete the survey at the Netball Voice portal here.
